We hope everyone enjoyed visiting Grade Three tonight for Curriculum Night! It was a pleasure to talk to you and share our daily routine. As promised, here is the Grade Three video of our first few weeks of school. Enjoy!
Grade Three has been working to solve the Science Mystery, "Why do plants give us fruit?" We learned that anything that has seeds on the inside is a "science fruit" even if a grocer or chef would call it a vegetable. As a culminating activity, students dug into some common foods to discover if they were a "science fruit" or "science vegetable." They determined that tomatoes and cucumbers are "science fruits," and radishes, potatoes, and celery stalks are "science vegetables." "Dig" these pictures!
Each year, Grade Three participates in a letter writing project. Students write a friendly letter to anyone in the world. They write to family members, friends, athletes, singers, authors, and many more. One of last year's Third Graders wrote to her favorite video game designer, Scott Cawthon, creator of "Five Nights at Freddy's." Today, a large envelope came addressed to her as a thank you for her fan letter. He autographed a t-shirt and several "Five Nights at Freddy's" toys for her! What a special way to learn about the power of the written word! Have you written a letter to someone recently???
It might crack up! That was just one of the jokes found on popsicle sticks after the Third Graders enjoyed their cold treats from Mrs. MacDonough on this warm spring day! Thank you, Mrs. MacDonough!
